Inmarsat Global Government has launched BGAN Patrol, the world’s first person-on-the-move BGAN terminal designed for militaries and emergency services. The lightweight and compact device, powered by Inmarsat’s ELERA satellite network, enables continuous connectivity for government personnel during missions. It has undergone extensive testing with government end-users, resulting in enhanced robustness and reliability for mission-critical scenarios. The terminal seamlessly integrates into existing communication systems and batteries, eliminating the need for static terminals and increasing agility. BGAN Patrol enables defense users to connect to on-field management systems, live Blue Force Tracking, request casualty medical evacuation, and facilitates communication and coordination during dynamic situations for emergency service agencies. The terminal offers speeds of up to 200 kbps via ethernet or multi-user Wi-Fi, with coverage across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Southern Asia, and the Asia Pacific region. Todd McDonell, President of Inmarsat Global Government, emphasizes the importance of connectivity for those operating in challenging environments and highlights BGAN Patrol’s role in protecting others.
