SES’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SES Space & Defense, has won a five-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command to deliver managed satellite services. The agreement gives the Department of War a fast, streamlined way to order global Ku-band connectivity for personnel and assets operating in remote locations.
The BPA is built around Ku-band satellites, which offer wide coverage along with high-speed, reliable performance, and it bundles together three service lines under a single agreement. FlexMove keeps users connected on the move or stationary in areas without cell towers or other terrestrial coverage. FlexGovSecure adds a security layer through TRANSEC technology, masking signals to guard against tracking and interception so the DoW can access a fully managed, TRANSEC-protected Ku-band service for sensitive missions. FlexAir extends coverage to aircraft, delivered in partnership with Satcom Direct Government (SDG), a Gogo company, using SDG’s own Gogo Plane Simple Ku-band terminal hardware.
David Broadbent, President and CEO of SES Space & Defense, said managed services like Flex give customers access to advanced SATCOM capability without the cost and complexity of building and maintaining proprietary infrastructure, letting military users stay focused on mission objectives while relying on commercial-sector speed and innovation to keep pace with evolving threats.
The agreement fits into a broader shift in how the U.S. government procures satellite communications, moving toward more flexible, commercially driven models rather than dedicated government-built systems. Hayden Olson, head of SDG, said the company’s Plane Simple Ku-band antennas and familiarity with military requirements position it to help SES deliver resilient, high-speed global connectivity for mission-driven operations.
